Your wedding day is one of the most photographed days of your life, and feeling confident in your skin can make all the difference. Whether your goals include smoother skin, a brighter complexion, or subtle aesthetic enhancements, planning ahead is key. At MidAmerica Plastic Surgery, we offer a variety of treatments to help you look and feel your best—but timing matters. In this guide, we'll walk you through the treatments we recommend and when to schedule them so you can achieve your desired results before you walk down the aisle.

When Should You Start Wedding Skin Prep?

The best wedding beauty results don't happen overnight. Whether your goal is smoother skin, a brighter complexion, or subtle facial enhancements, creating a treatment timeline gives your skin time to heal, build collagen, and look its absolute best by the big day.

Here's a general guide to help you plan your treatments.

4–12 Months Before: Build the Foundation

The months leading up to your wedding are the perfect time to focus on treatments that create long-term improvements in your skin.

Collagen-stimulating treatments, such as Sculptra and microneedling, encourage your body to naturally produce collagen, helping improve skin texture, firmness, and overall quality over time. Because collagen remodeling takes several months, these treatments are best started well in advance.

This is also the ideal time to establish a customized skincare routine with one of our providers. Medical-grade skincare used consistently at home can dramatically improve your results and prepare your skin for future treatments.

Throughout Your Engagement: Maintain Healthy, Glowing Skin

Monthly professional skincare treatments help keep your complexion clear, hydrated, and radiant leading up to your wedding.

Your provider will customize your facial schedule based on your skin type and concerns, whether you're targeting acne, pigmentation, dryness, or signs of aging. As your wedding approaches, we typically recommend finishing with a HydraFacial about one week before your wedding for a fresh, hydrated, camera-ready glow.

3–4 Months Before: Neuromodulators

If you're planning on Botox® or Dysport®, we recommend scheduling your first treatment approximately 3–4 months before your wedding.

This timeline allows enough time to evaluate your results and make any adjustments if needed. A second treatment is typically performed 4–6 weeks before your wedding, leaving time for a touch-up about two weeks before the big day if necessary.

Planning ahead helps ensure your results look natural and exactly how you envision them.

1–3 Months Before: Dermal Fillers

Whether you're interested in enhancing your lips, restoring facial volume, or refining your profile, dermal fillers are best performed 1–3 months before your wedding.

Scheduling within this window allows any swelling to fully resolve while giving your filler time to settle naturally, so you'll feel confident in every photo.

Daily Beauty Boosts

Some treatments work best when started early and used consistently.

Upneeq® is a prescription eye drop that temporarily lifts the upper eyelids, creating a brighter, more awake appearance. It can be started at any time and used daily.

If longer, fuller lashes are on your wedding wish list, Latisse® should ideally be started about five months before your wedding. This gives your lashes enough time to complete their growth cycle and reach their fullest potential.

Where Should You Start?

Wedding planning comes with countless decisions, but your skincare doesn't have to be one of them.

We recommend scheduling a consultation 6–12 months before your wedding. During your visit, we'll assess your skin, discuss your goals, and create a personalized treatment plan designed specifically for your timeline. Whether you're interested in facials, lasers, injectables, or simply building a medical-grade skincare routine, we'll help you prioritize treatments so you can feel confident every step of the way.
